iPhone Fingerprint: The iPhone 5S or 6 Will Have a Fingerprint Scanner

An Apple developer discovered a clue that would seemingly indicate the next Apple device will have a fingerprint scanner.

On July 29, Apple released a new version of the iOS 7 beta software to app developers. iOS 7 was first revealed back in June and since then four beta tests have been released.

The beta tests have addressed a number of bugs and clues to get an idea what the next iPhone will be like.

A line of code found in the fourth beta test of Apple's iOS 7 software shows that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 will come with a fingerprint reader according to 9to5Mac.

The iOS developer said there is a folder called "biometrickitUI" in the code. The software code also reveals "a fingerprint that changes colour during the setup process."

Apple has yet to comment about a supposed fingerprint scanner.

Rumors of a fingerprint scanner started around when the iPhone 5 was released last September after Apple purchased security company AuthenTec.

The iPhone 5 was released without the feature, but all signs seem to indicate the next one will, it's just a matter of which device it will be.

One major report by Apple blog iFun says Apple will release the iPhone 5S and an iPhone Lite this fall, whereas StableyTimes.com says the company will skip the iPhone 5S and jump straight to the iPhone 6.

Most media outlets believe the next device will come sometime this fall.
