Honda’s 130 MPH Lawn Mower Revealed, But is it Destined for U.S. Yards? (VIDEO)

Honda, in partnership with Top Gear magazine and the Team Dynamic racing organization have constructed a lawn mower capable of cutting grass at a top speed of 130 mph.

The Mean Mower started as a Honda production called HF2620 Lawn Tractor before the automaker replaced its 20 hp motor with a 109 hp 1,000 cc V-twin from a Honda VTR1000 Firestorm sport bike according to The Wall-Street Journal.

The mower also includes a six-speed transmission, reengineered suspension and ATV wheels and tires.

Honda said it has tested the mower on a race track and clocked it going 100 mph. The current lawn mower record is held by Bobby Cleveland who achieved 96.5 mph back in 2010.

The automaker's tagline for its newest vehicle is "What do you get if you take one lazy Sunday afternoon, one British Touring Car champion and the world's fastest lawnmower? Well here's your answer."

Unfortunately because the grass collection bag is filled with a gas tank, water coolers, and oil, the two electric motors installed to spin a cutting cable up to 4,000 rpm can only work when the vehicle 15 mph. This is still slightly faster than the average lawn mower, but nowhere near the advertised 130 mph.

Honda also disappointed interested buyers by saying the vehicle most likely won't be made available at your local Home Depot as it's more of a "look what we did" kind of project than a joint business venture.

If the mower did become available for sale, would you buy one? How much would you be willing to pay to save time cutting the grass?
