Danica Patrick made a deal with her new boyfriend and fellow NASCAR rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. that involved Twitter and a cowboy costume according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.
Realizing that Patrick has close to 1 million Twitter followers, he decided to make an arrangement with his girlfriend to help him get more followers. Patrick agreed to help Stenhouse, but wanted something in return.
"This started at the beginning of last year when he wanted some Twitter followers," Patrick said to Fox Sports' Lee Spencer this week. "I said, 'If I help you with that can I have a belt buckle?' That started at Daytona. So he had it made. I got it just before the second Texas race last year so I wore it last year at the end of the year."
The custom gold buckle features Patrick's logo in the center with the Nos. 10 and 7, the two numbers she drove last year, encrusted in diamonds next to it.
"It was very nice. I know these things are handmade, they're not cheap, and it's really cool to have," Patrick said according to Fox Sports. "It says 'To the fastest girl in town' so it was a nice gift. He didn't actually need to live up to the bet but it was nice that he did."
Patrick and Stenhouse are both well-known for wearing cowboy getups when they're not racing. The piece on the buckle discussed Patrick's desire to become a "NASCAR buckle bunny," which is a groupie of a rodeo cowboy.
As it seems, Patrick is the first NASCAR buckle bunny after all, simply because she was able to help her man gain some Twitter followers.
The exact number of Twitter followers Stenhouse gained thanks to Patrick is unknown, but he must have been satisfied nevertheless.
