T-Mobile, the fourth-largest wireless provider in the U.S. started offering Apple's iPhone 5 this week and new reports confirm that the device can be jailbroken according to a report by International Design Times.

The arrival of the iPhone 5 is a huge step for T-Mobile, as their sales have suffered since this past fall due to the fact that they couldn't offer the iPhone 5 yet. Now that all four of the top cellphone providers in the country can offer the phone, it will be interesting to see which company reports the best sales next quarter.

"Apple's iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S together accounted for 1 in 5 of all smartphones shipped worldwide in Q4 2012," Strategy Analytics executive director Neil Mawston said in a press statement. "This was an impressive performance, given the iPhone portfolio's premium pricing.

Interested customers can purchase the iPhone 5 for approximately $99 down and 24 monthly payments of $20 according to T-Mobile. The company has also confirmed that they'll take older iPhones as trade-ins for the new one with no down payment and credit will go towards future bills.

The 32GB option is $199 down, while the 64GB is $299.

As mentioned, the device can be jailbroken with iOS 6 or 6.1 installed, but if you upgrade your phone to 6.1.3 you will not be able to download the evasiOn jailbreak to your phone.

The evasiOn tool, which became the most popular jailbreak of all-time, was available for less than eight weeks before Apple essentially put an end to it. Apple was able to find four bugs that allowed the jailbreak in the first place thanks to the respected hacking team known as the evad3rs, and quickly released iOS 6.1.3 just last month.

The new iOS also blocks anyone from bypassing an iPhone lockscreen using its emergency call function, allowing the user to make a call or gaining partial access to the phone's private data according to Forbes.

The evad3rs have confirmed recently that they won't try jailbreaking iOS 6.1.3 so that they can work towards a bigger goal: jailbreaking iOS 7 when it comes out.

Apple has yet to confirm when their next device, rumored to be the iPhone 5S, will be unveiled, but it is commonly believe that it will debut sometime this summer. The iPhone 5 premiered back in September and recorded one of the best opening weekend sales for any phone.

The iPhone 5 has become so popular that it recently passed Samsung's Galaxy S 3 last quarter to become the top-selling smartphone in the world according to a report released by Strategy Analytics.
