The 2018 Kia Stinger GT definitely came out with a sting and means serious business. It seems that the company's first ever sports sedan can sprint 0 to 60 mph in just under 5 seconds. That is already close to Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan and the Audi S5 Sportback at a significant price difference.

Kia initially promised that its first sports sedan will sprint a 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds. Now, who's complaining of a far quicker performance?

However, compared with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C43 or the Audi S4, don't expect too much. It still is not as quick as these bad boys. On the bright side, it is indeed faster than the 4 Series Gran Coupe in 440i trim.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT is set to be priced "under $50,000," since Kia wanted to create a budget BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. Hence, the Stinger was crafted under the direction of Albert Biermann, the former BMW M Engineering VP.

The rear-wheel drive four-door 2018 Kia Stinger GT trim packs a new 3.3 twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Specifically, Kia claims that this engine is good enough to sprint a 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds. Also, the GT trim will be available in both AWD and a 2.0 turbo and diesel engines in certain markets.

The GT trim's engine is, in fact, the most powerful that the Stinger could offer. However, the 197-hp diesel version will not be available in the United States, although it is a tad bit slower.

When Kia introduced their first sports sedan at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, they certain took the audience by storm. And now that's it is even quicker, it is set to make waves bigger waves. The 2018 Kia Stinger GT and other trim levels will go on sale later this year.
