New York Auto Show 2013: Carhartt-Inspired Chrysler 200 S Special Edition Revealed Early (PHOTOS)

Chrysler and Detroit based clothes company Carhartt have joined together to make a limited edition 2013.5 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition to be revealed officially at the New York International Auto Show according to a company press release.

The new special edition mid-size sedan will be available for $28,870.

Chrysler Brand CEO and President SAAD Chehab made the announcement this week that the car will be shown off at the N.Y. event, and will go on sale to the public before the summer.

"The 2013.5 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition celebrates a never-say-die attitude and the value of hard work with a car unlike any other in the marketplace," said Saad Chehab, President and CEO - Chrysler Brand, Chrysler Group LLC in the company press release. "The 200 S Special Edition makes the statement that world-class quality and craftsmanship can be designed and developed in the Motor City, and embraced by consumers everywhere."

Don't expect the vehicle to start appearing in showrooms everywhere however as only 2,000 units will be produced by the two companies according to Chehab.

The exterior will include mesh grille inserts, black 18-inch wheels, and a platinum chrome trim according to a company press release.

"Our design teams were able to work collaboratively to reflect the heritage of both brands, first with the 'Imported From Detroit' line of apparel and now with the Chrysler 200 S Special Edition," said Mark Valade, Carhartt CEO in the company press release. "The vehicle is understated in its levels of sophistication which authentically mirrors our brand."

The interior is designed inspired by Carhartt clothing with resistant fabric selected by Carhartt themselves and the company's signature stitching according to Chehab.

Production for the new sedan will start in the second quarter of 2013. Chehab said the model will be built at Chrysler's Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Detroit and upfitted at Chrysler's upfit center in Warren, M.I.

"That's a logo that stands for toughness and authenticity on job sites all over the world," Chehab said when announcing the vehicle this week according to Michigan Live. "And on this 200, it also stands for hard working that only Detroit can offer."
