Jeep To Release 10th Anniversary Edition Of Wrangler Rubicon, Vehicle Known For Raising The Bar In Off-Road Capability

For over seven decades Jeep has been the benchmark for utility trucks and the Jeep Wrangler is a huge reason for that reputation.

In 2003, the first Wrangler Rubicon model was released, thus raising the bar for off-road capable vehicles. The vehicle, which was named after one of the toughest off-road trails worldwide, Jeep took a huge chance releasing the "most extreme Wranglers ever produced" according to the company.

So far it has payed off.

Almost ten years later, the vehicle is still a favorite with critics and fans alike, and continues to set sales numbers records. To commemorate the last ten years, Jeep announced today that they will be releasing a limited 2013 Wrangler Rubicon which will come with all the features hardcore fans love, as well as a few new ones.

"The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is a tribute to 10 years of Wrangler Rubicon history, and to the Jeep brand's most passionate enthusiasts," said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC in the company's press release. "This Wrangler Rubicon is for them. It is a unique vehicle that we expect will long be sought after, a Wrangler that offers an unprecedented level of capability once only attainable by long hours of custom aftermarket preparation crafted in the garages of the most avid Jeep enthusiasts in the world."

Jeep will be producing a two-door and a four-door Wrangler Unlimited option, equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine which is expected to produce around 285 horsepower with 260 ft-pounds of torque. The vehicle will also be made available with a standard six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission options.

The new Rubicon will include many new features and specs compared to the previous model. Designers gave the vehicle a one-half inch increase in height, while also adding new BF Goodrich KM2 265/70R17 tires according to the press release to allow the vehicle to drive on any trail an owner wishes to.

Inside the vehicle, the red leather seats will have "Rubicon 10th Anniversary" stitched on the front seat, as a way of truly recognizing the accomplishment. A gauge cluster also contains the "Rubicon 10thAnniversary" logo as well.

"Now, to celebrate the Wrangler Rubicon's 10th Anniversary, Jeep has created a stunning new example of the Wrangler, available with a striking red leather interior, and a host of standard off-road equipment seen for the first time on a production vehicle," Manley said in the press release.

The vehicle will be released at dealerships in the spring of 2013 according to the press release.
