Did The Stone Temple Pilots Finally Found Their Vocal Replacement?

Stone Temple Pilots is considered as one of the most successful American rock bands to emerge in their era. Worldwide hits like "Plush" and "Interstate Love Song" are among the many songs the group produced during the course of their career.

However, the band's vocalist, Scott Weiland, passed away on a tour bus last year after suffering from a drug overdose. Left with no frontman, Stone Temple Pilots has since looked for a talent that could replace Weiland's iconic voice.

Today, that search seems to have ended as the group is rumored to have found the guy for the job. John Borja from the Philippines has submitted a video to the STP showcasing his skill behind the mic. And he sounds exactly like STP's late vocalist.

Borja's voice absolutely nails that powerful grit-like voice of Weiland while also being able to reach those occasional high notes, prompting online praises from thousands worldwide.

While the news isn't certain until STP itself make the announcement, Borja revealed on his Facebook page that he took a trip to the US in the first week of September to meet with the group. The post showed that Borja was with STP's bassist Robert DeLeo and Def Leppard guitarist with the photo likely taken at the Delta Deep concert in San Juan Capistrano, CA earlier this week.

STP has announced its ambitious open search for their front man in February where it was followed by a wave of auditions. One highly touted candidate that took a swing at the opportunity is "Fuel" frontman Toryn Green.

Green commented on Borja's post writing: "That's friggin awesome man! Ready to tear up the planet? Round 3...Coming up!"

Below is the audition video of Borja where he sang a medley of several STP classics. His voice is so identical with STP's late vocalist that if you close your eyes you'll swear that its Weiland singing on the other end.
