The new Porsche Panamera is already ticking the right boxes with its looks and performance though what seems evident is that there is plenty more left to the story than what we have seen of the new Panamera so far.
New Porsche Panamera Station Wagon
For there is likely to be a Station Wagon variant in the making as well, along with perhaps another Panamera version with a Shooting Brake body style. While all of it is still shrouded in mystery, Automotive News is of the view that the additional Panamera variants could be ready for launch only around 2018. Towards that, a debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show is also being predicted.
The recent sighting of a Panamera with an extended body undergoing trials at Nurbergring has only reinforced such claims. That is not all as a Panamera in the guise of a station wagon was also on display at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Bernhard Maier who was heading Porsche's marketing efforts then also claimed the particular Panamera version could be offered around 2017.
All of the above does make one believe Porsche might indeed launch a more practical Panamera which will serve as a family hauler as well. After all, Porsche has done remarkably well when it shifted from being solely a maker of sports car to more practical versions while still retaining the sports roots. Case in point, the launch of the Cayenne and Macan SUVs that has done really well in the market.
Meanwhile, the Panamera Station Wagon will have a relatively free run at the market considering that the only viable competitor, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon lacks the performance credential of a Porsche, Auto Blog claimed. While that is expected to be replaced by the more dynamic AMG E63 soon, what can't be denied is that the Panamera with its sleek flowing lines is more appealing to the eyes.
Porsche Panamera's Grand Lithuania Entrance
In another interesting development, Porsche chose to flow down a Panamera right into the launch venue in Lithuania, much to the amazement of the awaiting crowd. As reported by Motor1, The particular Panamera slinging underneath a helicopter made a soft landing which no doubt makes for the most dramatic event planned to promote a new car to its prospective buyers. The video below further highlights the excitement and buzz it created among the crowd.
