The fastest-growing global carsharing company has announced that it is pioneering, one-way carsharing service is now available in Brooklyn.
Car2go North America's expansion marks the company's 15th city in North America, the 30th city globally, and the first in the New York area, according to a company release.
Those who live in or visit Brooklyn will have the chance to sign-up for a free member registration, along with 30 minutes of drive time credit, for a limited time at Brooklyn.car2go.com by using the promotional code "BKLYN."
Exclusively for Brooklyn, car2go will also be providing 400 smart vehicles for shared use, which should cover 36 square miles, allowing members to pick up and drop off a car2go anywhere within the Home Area.
Members can used the point-to-point service by the minute, hour and day, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, without committing to a specific return time or dedicated location, according to car2go.
"We are super pumped that Brooklyn residents and visitors now have the opportunity to use our simple point-to-point carsharing service to navigate around the borough," stated Paul DeLong, CMO of car2go North America. "We are truly committed to the communities we serve, and we look forward to interacting with all residents, while providing a much needed stress-free transport solution to their everyday lives."
To find the nearest car2go vehicle, interested members can visit the smartphone app, which is available on both Google Play and iTunes, the car2go website, or the street anywhere within the 36-square mile car2go Brooklyn Home Area.
Once a member is done using a car2go, they can park it on any street, non-metered space within the car2go Home Area. Make sure to pay attention to street sweeping guidelines in the pakring rules as well, which are located at brooklyn.car2go.com.
Fuel, parking, insurance and maintenance are included at no additional cost, according to the company.
Since its initial launch, car2go has added 850,000 registered members and expanded across cities in the U.S and Canada.
