Samsung has challenged Apple to put its iPhone 5S through the ALC Ice Bucket Challenge in a new video posted on Aug. 22.
Samsung's mobile arm in the U.K. tweeted out a video embracing the Ice Bucket Challenge, while also showing off one of the most desirable features on the Galaxy S5.
"I am the Samsung Galaxy S5. This is my Ice Bucket Challenge," the phone says in its British Galaxy S-Voice. "Gosh that's freezing. I nominate the iPhone 5S the HTC One M8 and the Nokia Lumia 930."
The 15-second spot can be viewed below.
Apple won't be able to put its iPhone 5S through the Ice Bucket Challenge of course, since none of Samsung's rivals have water resistant smartphones.
Apple has been working on a new waterproof option for an upcoming device, but it has yet to materialize in a device that can be purchased.
Samsung will also make a donation to the British Motor Nerone Disease Association charity, according to AppleInsider.com.
An executive at Samsung's U.K advertising agency Cheil UK, said to AdAge that it was the "perfect opportunity for the brand to do something that was meaningful but also unexpected."
Comments on the YouTube video point out that the video was probably edited, and that the phone was displaying a screenshot of the mainscreen while taking the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has swept the nation recently, and even a number of important Apple executives, like Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller and company CEO Tim Cook have gotten in on the fun.
Cook was doused in ice and water in the amphitheatre at the center of Apple headquarters in Cupertino. He then nominated Dr. Dre, who was soaked last week.
