A Google driver crashed into another vehicle Wednesday in Arkansas while gathering data for Google Street View, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Cited for "careless prohibited driving," the Street View driver went the wrong way down one-way Tyler Street in Little Rock, made a U-turn and collided into another car on a nearby street, Newser reported via the Smoking Gun.
The crash resulted in around $1,500 in damages to the Google car as well as $2,000 for the other vehicle. According to the other driver, the Google employee ran a red light and "came out of nowhere" to collide into his vehicle.
The collision happened around 5:30 on Wednesday, according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.
"Something better come out of Google's pocket for this," the non-Google driver, who claims he suffered whiplash in the crash and may have to miss a few weeks of work, told Arkansas Online.
The Google driver "basically said he was sorry and that he was gonna lose his job," said the other driver, who is identified as Dylan Case, 22, by the Smoking Gun.
Case, who was driving a 2008 Mazda that belongs to his girlfriend, went to the emergency room and underwent a cat scan and X-rays.
The Google driver involved was Alexander Spurr, 28, of Bryant, Ark., according to the Smoking Gun. He was reportedly seen trying to take apart the car's camera equipment following the crash.
In a separate incident, a Google Street View driver hit a bus last year, then attempted to flee the scene and crashed into another bus and a truck, Newser reported.
