Double Trouble: Full 'Honey' Moon Falls on Friday the 13th

June 13 will be marked by both the "unlucky" 13 date and a full moon known as a "strawberry" or "honey" moon.

A full moon and a Friday the 13th haven't happened on the same day since June 1919, USA TODAY reported via universetoday.com.

To be on view for those living in the Northern Hemisphere, this full moon will occur closest to the June solstice and will be a yellow-gold color, Space.com reported.

"This will be the most amber or honey colored full moon of 2014, especially when it rises at sunset Thursday evening," Slooh community telescope representatives wrote in an advisory, as quoted by Space.com.

A June full moon is additionally known as a "rose moon" or "flower moon" and could have been where the term "honeymoon" originated.

"That phrase dates back nearly half a millennium, to 1552, but one thing has changed: weddings have shifted, and are now most often held in August or September," Slooh's Bob Berman said in a statement quoted by Space.com. "The idea back then was that a marriage is like the phases of the moon, with the full moon being analogous to a wedding. Meaning, it's the happiest and 'brightest' time in a relationship."

Friday the 13th is a source of fear for 21 million Americans who suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia. Being afraid of the number 13 costs the country $1 billion annually for cancelling trips, being absent and spending less, Space.com reported via Smithsonian Magazine.
