Adidas has a plan to bring social media even closer to your real life--printing Instagram photos and other images directly on your sneakers.
Launching in August through an app for iOS and Android devices, the mi Adidas service from Adidas Originals will let you upload and print any pictures on your shoes, The Wire reported.
The new option is part of the company's attempt to revitalize mi Adidas, which allows consumers to customize their shoes in various ways, Engadget reported. So far, the photo printing feature will be limited to the ZX Flux shoe model.
"For the sneaker lovers, it's an exciting chance to make a statement that's all your own, following in the footsteps of the sellout ZX Flux Photo Print Prism shoe released in April," Adidas said in a statement. "For adidas Originals, it's just the next logical step in breaking the mold of sneaker customization."
The pricing for the new customization feature hasn't been announced yet, but the XZ Flux shoe goes for around $90 a pair. Even with an additional fee, shoes with your favorite photo printed on them should stay below $200 a pair, The Wire noted.
Adidas has tested similar customizing options earlier with the ZX Flux "Photo Print" collection, which comprises three styles, each with digital-print patterns.
According to Adidas, the new photo app feature will be "taking an infinitely versatile shoe, and transforming it into a one-of-one custom with truly limitless possibilities."
