Volkswagen will launch the updated Touareg luxury SUV next week. The latest model will make its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, the carmaker has announced.
The 2015 Touareg is expected to be available in the U.S. early next year, Edmunds.com reported.
In the revamp, the Touareg features new styling to the front and rear, an updated grille, larger headlamps and an updated interior. For American customers, the SUV will have three engine options: a 276-horsepower gasoline V6, a 236-horsepower TDI V6 and a 374-horsepower gasoline-electric hybrid, according to Edmunds.
The Touareg will feature bi-xenon headlamps in all trims, and new wheels are available. For the interior, the SUV will feature new colors and touches as well as updated controls.
While pricing for the latest model hasn't yet been announced, the 2014 Touareg starts at $44,905 with a $910 shipping charge.
Volkswagen is also planning to offer an R-line package, which will be available in the U.S., Volkwagen spokesman Mark Gillies told Edmunds.
The current Touareg comes in four main trim levels: Sport, Lux, Executive and Hybrid. In the standard trim, the five-passenger midsize offering has a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, according to Edmunds.
With the turbodiesel option, the Touareg runs on a V6 TDI generating 225 hosepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid mates a 3.0-liter V6 gas engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 380 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque.
An eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are both standard on all trim versions.
