Volkswagen of America has recalled approximately 26,452 vehicles due to an issue that could pose a fire risk.
The recall includes: the 2014 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Jetta, and Passat.
Leaking transmission fluid could potentially cause a fire in the aforementioned vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
All affected VW vehicles are equipped with a torque converter automatic transmission and a 1.8T engine, according to the automaker.
"In the affected vehicles, the O-ring seals between the oil cooler and the transmission may leak," said NHTSA regarding the issue. "The leaking transmission fluid could contact a hot surface and result in a vehicle fire."
Volkswagen dealers are being instructed to replace the O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. If an issue is discovered, repairs will be completed free of charge.
U.S. dealers were ordered by the automaker to stop selling the vehicles on April 8.
The recall began on April 16, according to the NHTSA.
No accidents, injuries, or fires have been reported so far, according to Mark Gillies, a Volkswagen spokesman.
