Motorola Mobility has named Rick Osterloh as its new chief operating officer, according to a report by Reuters.
Osterloh will report to the Motorola Operating Board at Google until it's acquired by Lenovo Group Ltd officially.
Lenovo agreed to purchase Google's Motorola handset division for approximately $2.91 billion back in January.
The agreement is the largest ever tech deal in China, according to Reuters.
"We're confident in his (Osterloh's) ability to not only manage a smooth transition at Motorola from Google to Lenovo but, also to lead the business forward for continued growth," said Liu Jun, EVP, Mobile Business Group, Lenovo, according to Reuters.
The decision was made public this week on Motorola's official blog by Jonathan Rosenberg.
Rosenberg will keep his role as Google liaison and adviser to Motorola during the transition period, according to the post.
Osterloh joined the company back in 2006, though he left for a 2-year stint in between at Skype.
One of his responsibilities within the company included the delivery of software and operation of the Android platform at Motorola.
