Audi launched the 2016 TT Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show on Thursday, showing off the car's classic lines and revamped updates.
The German automaker decided to remodel the TT after declining sales, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While Audi updated the car in 2008, the coupe hasn't really changed much since its advent in 1998.
"The new TT retains the signature sloping roofline from the 1998 original but introduces a more assertive grille and front end emphasizing strong horizontal lines paired with flattened head- and tailights and faceted sheet metal," The Hollywood Reporter described the latest model.
The design has a newly "powerful, athletic look," Audi said.
Set to hit dealerships next year, the new TT will be available in two versions: the base TT, which will feature a 2-liter turbocharged four-cyliner engine offering around 230 horsepower, and the TTS, which will boast a more powerful version of the same engine.
In the biggest change to the car, the new TT will have the "virtual cockpit," a 12.3-inch display right under the steering wheel, which Audi showcased at the recent Consumer Electronics Show.
The driver's display can switch between "classic mode," which has a speedometer, and "infotainment mode" featuring navigation and other options, according to Motor Authority.
The instrument panel was created to look like an airplane wing, according to Audi. Round air nozzles, a classic TT design cue, will both still be included, according to the automaker.
"Many details of the new Coupé's profile are reminiscent of the first generation's classic design," Audi said in a press release quoted by Jalopnik. "The sill contour forms a powerful light edge and the wide wheel arches constitute distinct geometrical entities."
