General Motors has confirmed its 2014 Chevrolet Traverse crossover has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Traverse received five stars in the side and front impact tests and four stars in the rollover crash test, according to the NHTSA.

The Traverse competes with simile vehicles like the 2014 Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-9.

Safety features for the most recent Traverse includes lane-departure warning systems and forward collision alert.

These features are standard for the LTZ models and are optional on all LT vehicles, according to the automaker.

The Traverse also earned "Good" ratings in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, including the difficult moderate overlap front crash test.

Traverse also features antilock brakes, stability control, and industry-first front center side airbag, which was created to provide more restraint to occupants in far-side impact crashes.
