Gmail has apparently added a handy new feature to make it easier for you to get off commercial mailing lists.
Promotional emails now have the word "Unsubscribe" right at the top of the email next to the sender's address, TIME reported.
Whereas before the link to unsubscribe was usually a bit trickier to find, Gmail users can now easily locate and click the word to get off unwanted mailing lists.
"If you can find an email that looks like this, that word's just what it sounds like: an easy-peasy, one-click link that fires off an automated email to the sender requesting they remove you from further sendings," TIME described.
Google has had the feature for a while, but only recently rolled it out for all users.
When you click the Unsubscribe option, Gmail sends an automated email to the sender requesting that your account be excluded from future mailing lists, Venture Beat reported.
Even though marketers probably won't be excited about the new option, at least the Unsubscribe feature will mean that fewer company emails will be marked as spam. Having too many emails flagged as spam could eventually classify a company as spam for all of Gmail and cause delivery problems.
The Unsubscribe button debuted for millions of users on Monday and should continue rolling out to more Gmail users through the rest of the week, according to Venture Beat.
News of the feature was reported by IDG last week when Google announced the tool at an industry conference in San Francisco.
"One of the biggest problems with the Gmail spam filter is identifying unwanted mail or soft spam," Google's Vijay Eranti, leader in anti-abuse efforts at Gmail, told IDG.
"We want to empower users with an easy way to control what they want to receive," he said.
