Ford has confirmed that the 2014 Ford Edge has earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Edge received five stars in the side crash test, four stars in the rollover crash test, and three stars in the front crash test.
Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can receive for any specific test conducted by the NHTSA.
The Edge competes in the same segment as similar vehicles like the Chevrolet Equinox, and the Honda Crosstour.
Standard safety features found with the Edge includes antilock brakes, stability control, and six airbags.
A Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert is an optional feature as well, according to Ford.
The 2014 Edge also recently earned "Good" ratings in each crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including the moderate overlap front crash test.
The moderate overlap crash test was designed to see how a vehicle can withstand the impact of another vehicle, which weighs around the same amount, going under 40 mph.
