Bringrr is the car charger that will alert you before you head out for the day and realize you forgot your laptop. The new device, which is a Kickstarter project, lights up and beeps if something is missing, TechCrunch reported.
The gadget actually launched in 2010, when it focused on helping drivers remember their phones. If users turned on their cars and their phones weren't within Bluetooth range, Bringrr would light up and make a noise to let them know.
But our phones are so constantly attached to us that we rarely forget them, so Bringrr has recently introduced a tagging system for the things that are harder to remember. The company now has a system that works with "Bring Tags," which are stick-on, Bluetooth tags that can communicate with the charger.
For example, users can stick colorful Bring Tags on their laptops, wallets, backpacks and briefcases. The charger can also be programmed to alert you for certain items on different days; i.e., it can stop alerting you to bring a laptop for weekend excursions.
Bringrr, which can charge a phone or any other device that uses a USB cable, can also help you keep track of things outside of your car by letting you "ping" items to see how close they are. A backup panic button also makes a Bring Tag ring in case you just can't find it.
The Bringrr app can even help you locate a lost pet if tagged, according to the project's Kickstarter page. Through the app, users can mark items or pets as missing, which anonymously puts other Bringrr users on the lookout.
The project as of Tuesday morning had more than $40,000 of the $75,000 in pledges needed with 20 days to go.
