Hyundai has unveiled its second-generation Genesis mid-size sedan at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.
The vehicle will go on sale this spring, according to a company press release.
The Genesis competes with similar cars like the Cadillac CTS, Lexus GS, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The automaker said it will keep the base price for its new Genesis to under $40,000 and will offer an all-wheel-drive option along with the standard rear-wheel-drive option for the first time ever, according to a company press release.
That's a significant move, said Jake Fisher, automotive test director for Consumer Reports, according to The Los Angeles Times. "That will increase the appeal of that car. You can't find a rear-wheel drive Mercedes or BMW in the Northeast."
Available features include: head-up display, 12-way power front seats, automatic breaking, variable-ratio electric power steering, lane departure warning, and adaptive suspension.
Hyundai's new vehicle will be powered by either a 311-hp 3.8-liter V6 or 420 hp 5.0L V8, according to the automaker.
The Genesis is 196.5 inches long, or 0.2 inches longer than its predecessor.
"They are really trying to deliver value, style and technology and luxury features at a lower price point," said Stephanie Brinley, an analyst at IHS Automotive.
Production will take place at Hyundai's Ulsan plant in South Korea.
