Jaguar Land Rover have decided to recall 3,912 Range Rover vehicles because the front seat side airbags may not deploy, according to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Affected vehicles were produced from May 9, 2012 through March 15, 2013.
"In the affected vehicles, due to insufficient clearance, the Supplemental Restraint System connector located in the driver and front passenger side seat of the vehicle may become disconnected," said NHTSA in its summary. "If the connector becomes disconnected, the driver and/or passenger seat side airbag may not function.
Jaguar told federal safety regulators there have been no reports of accidents or injuries as a result of the issue yet.
Land Rover dealers are being instructed to modify the area around the connector to stop it from potentially disconnecting. The recall will begin on January 17, according to NHTSA.
"In the event of a crash necessitating side airbag deployment, the seat occupant is at an increased risk of injury," said the NHTSA.
