The second winner of California's $648 million Mega Millions jackpot came forward this week, according to the Associated Press.
Steve Tran had an epiphany this week that caused him to wake up at 3 a.m. and look through a pile of lottery tickets on top of his dresser.
Tran looked through his tickets and supposedly the winning ticket was "sitting in my house, on top of my drawer."
"I remembered, I think I went to San Jose," said the California delivery driver to state lottery officials, according to AP.
The $648 million jackpot is the second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history, according to AP. Tran will take home approximately $324 million before taxes.
Tran, after celebrating with his family, called his boss to tell him he was quitting.
"I'm really sorry boss. I hit the jackpot. I don't think I'm going to come in today, tomorrow, or ever," Tran said he told his boss, according to AP.
Tran purchased 5 Quick Pick tickets from Jennifer's Gift Shop, in San Jose. The store's owner Thuy Nguyen will receive $1 million for selling the winning ticket, according to AP.
Tran has approximately 60 days to decide how he wants to be paid. He came forward 16 days after the drawing.
Over $336 million in tickets were sold for the Dec. 17 lottery, according to AP.
