Chris Pine, an actor generally silent about his life behind the scenes, has spoken out about his experiences working with Lindsay Lohan on the 2006 film "Just My Luck."
As the "Star Trek" actor prepares for the release of his new film "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," he talked to The Hollywood Reporter about showbiz politics and the dangerous levels of attention given to actors.
The New Orleans set for "Just My Luck" was shut down at least once due to Lohan's antics, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The troubled star, who rose to fame with her breakout dual role in the 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap," is better known today for tabloid covers, DUI arrests and stints in rehab than acting success.
Of his time with the "Mean Girls" actress, Pine described, "It was a real cyclone of insanity, like being around The Beatles. It was fascinating to watch, and in hindsight it's really a distinct moment in someone's life when you see what's really wonderful about what we get to do and what's really dangerous about it."
Pine was an up and comer when he starred opposite Lohan in "Just My Luck," a rom-com about a girl with ridiculously good luck that gets transferred to someone else.
Lohan, who was a huge star at the time following her "Mean Girls" fame, has since seen fallen fortunes. But since he starred in "Just My Luck," Pine's star has risen, bringing the 33-year-old actor roles like Jack Ryan, a part previously played by Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin.
He seems to have learned from the missteps of those around him.
"Hollywood is like living in a weird bubble," Pine said. "A bunch of people take care of you and get you stuff, and you're the center of that little microcosmic world. You start believing that it is real and ... you deserve it."
