For the Americans who haven't signed up for healthcare yet, there is still time.
Officials have extended the 2014 coverage deadline one more day through Christmas Eve, USA TODAY reported.
"We recognize that many have chosen to make their final decisions on today's deadline and we are committed to making sure they can do so," Julie Bataille, spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told USA TODAY.
"Anticipating high demand and the fact that consumers may be enrolling from multiple time zones, we have taken steps to make sure that those who select a plan through tomorrow will get coverage for Jan. 1."
The famously problem-riddled HealthCare.gov site has reportedly been flooded with buyers shopping for insurance policies.
According to HHS, the site had more than 1 million visits during the weekend and 200,000 calls came into the call center. The troubled Healthcare.gov also had much fewer issues with a reported .45 percent error rate and average wait times of less than 400 milliseconds.
The HHS systems have been reprogrammed to give coverage starting Jan. 1 to people who enroll by the end of Tuesday.
The insurance industry was caught somewhat off guard by the new deadline, with insurers saying they didn't receive official word on the change, while insurance brokers weren't planning to work past Monday.
Broker Michelle Grochalski of Carlisle, Pa., told USA TODAY that her office will be closed on Tuesday, so people signing up and looking for help after Monday may be in the lurch.
Grochalski had already helped around 18 clients to get through the long process of enrolling for healthcare by Monday afternoon.
Elizabeth Gallops, a broker for JBA Benefits of Winston-Salem, N.C., said of the extension, "I'm sure it's a relief for consumers who have been waiting until the last minute, but it is a challenge for those who have to get them enrolled."
Those who still haven't enrolled by the new Tuesday deadline will have until March 31 to sign up for healthcare or pay the penalty, according to CNN.
Around 25,000 Americans have been enrolling per day on HealthCare.gov during the month of December, CNN reported.
