The 2014 Acura MDX and 2014 Acura RLX will star in new commercials written by comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
The ads will premiere during the Season 3 premiere of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" on January 2, and are part of Acura's sponsorship of the critically-acclaimed online series created by Seinfeld.
Along with director Barry Sonnenfeld, Acura and Seinfeld have already filmed eight spots to pair with the show, that will supposedly feature the cars and the same humor as the award-winning comedian.
"To me, what was funny was a car from 2014 gets transported back to an ad agency in 1965 which is somewhat incompetent," Seinfeld said according to The New York Times. "The feeling that I'm trying to give the consumer is, 'We don't get you, we are so out of touch that we're bragging that our cars are metal.'"
The three-row 2014 MDX will star in an ad called Picnic, where a family of five packs a large amont of potato salad into the vehicle's cargo area. Other ads shows the midsize luxury SUV's "easy-grip door handles" and nylon carpeting.
The 2014 Acura RLX is also featured, and the automaker has confirmed the commercials will focuses on the metal exterior and "plush cushion interior" of the full-size luxury sedan.
The 2014 MDX and RLX are available at over 275 dealers within the U.S.
