Two people have been reported as injured during a shooting Friday at a Colorado high school.
Personnel at the nearest hospital were told to prepare for a "mass injury incident" and put on standby for ambulances coming from Arapahoe High School in Centennial, NBC News reported.
The suspect in the shooting died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Reuters.
CNN reported that at least one person, a minor, has been taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Nearby schools were put on lockdown, and police described the area as an "active shooter situation," saying the shooter was still inside the school, according to USA TODAY.
Students were seen quietly exiting Arapahoe around 1:30 p.m. local time and gathering on a school track, the outlet reported. Parents were asked to meet their children at a nearby church, according to CNN.
A dispatcher with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office had said there had been a shooting, according to The Denver Post. The newspaper also detailed reports of a fire at the school, which has an attendance of about 2,200.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's office confirmed that officers were at the school but declined to give further details, according to Reuters.
Local outlets reported that two victims were injured, but no more information about the victims has been released.
