Amanda Bynes has been released from treatment and is recovering at home, according to her mother's attorney.
The 27-year-old actress has completed inpatient treatment at the Malibu rehabilitation facility she entered in September.
"Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery," said a statement from lawyer Tamar Arminak as reported in a PEOPLE exclusive. "Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day."
The former Nickelodeon star also known for her roles in "Sydney White" and "She's the Man" was forcibly hospitalized after she was spotted near a driveway fire in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Bynes also spent time at UCLA Medical Center before being moved to The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu, where she reportedly received "specialized psych care, one on one treatment."
The troubled actress exhibited bizarre behavior in the months leading up to her forcible hospitalization, sending strange tweets about other celebrities, undergoing plastic surgery and cutting off her family and friends.
Bynes, who was reportedly diagnosed with a mental illness with schizophrenic tendencies, seems to be headed toward a more hopeful future. But for now her mother, Lynn Bynes, will remain in control of her well-being and finances indefinitely.
The "Easy A" star's mother was granted temporary legal control of her life after the driveway incident.
Once known for fun and youthful style, Bynes could return to the fashion scene with her own clothing line in the near future.
"She's now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design," the recent statement from Arminak continues. "She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line.
"Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She's very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared."
