Police in Alabama have confirmed that a deadly shooting involving two University of Alabama fans took place after the school's football team lost to Auburn, according to Reuters.

Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, has been charged with murder after she supposedly shot and killed a mother of three at a party in Hoover, Alabama.

The women were there to watch the Iron Bowl between the two schools.

An argument occurred started in the apartment and later moved into the parking lot, Hoover Police Captain Jim Coker said. Police confirmed Briskey then fired a gun, killing caseworker Michelle Shepherd.

Police are trying to definitively confirm what led to the shooting involving the two women and whether I was started over the game or not.

"The fact is that it was an Iron Bowl party when this happened, so we have to look at that," said Coker.

Briskey was eventually released from jail after posting $75,000 bail on Dec, 2 and is due to appear in court for a hearing on January 8, according to Reuters.

Witness Neketa Shepherd said to Al.com that Briskey got angry after Shepherd and her sister were joking around after the game, which Auburn won the game 34-28.

The loss will likely cost Alabama a shot to repeat as national champions.

"She was saying she was going to beat us up," Shepherd said according to the website. "Somebody was saying, 'They don't care about Alabama.'"
