The new 2014 Shelby GT Ford Mustang was revealed this week at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The vehicle returns after a five-year hiatus.
"The Shelby GT was one of the most important vehicles in modern day Shelby history," said John Luft, president of Shelby American, in a press statement. "Ever since the Shelby GT went out of production, people have clamored for its return."
The base price listed for the Shelby GT package is $14,995, according to the automaker. This price does not include the cost of the car.
The Shelby GT/SC package will start at $27,995.
The 2014 Ford Mustang GT coupe is sold for $31,695, including a $795 destination fee. This could mean the Shelby GT will be sold for around $46,690.
Shelby, along with Ford Racing, designed the Shelby GT back in 2007 based on a 4.6-liter Mustang GT, according to the automaker.
Entry-level packages include a Shelby-branded exhaust, Ford Racing suspension, Le Mans stripes, and custom designed wheels and tires.
The 624-hp Shelby GT/SC option is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.7 seconds, according to the automaker.
The GT/SC option will also be available in a 525-hp form.
The car was named after legendary driver Carroll Shelby, who passed away in May 2012.
