General Motors has introduced a new online car-shopping tool that allows consumers to basically control everything from getting a vehicle's price to applying for financing.
The new service has been called "Shop-Click-Drive," according to GM.
The site allows the automaker's 4,300 Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC dealers to feature the Shop-Click-Drive tool on their own sites.
The service, which was tested in a pilot program earlier this year, does not mean people can avoid dealers but they may not have to actually step inside of a showroom.
"We want to make it easier and simpler for dealers to connect with customers who are looking to combine the convenience of online shopping with the personal service of a neighborhood dealership," said Kurt McNeil, GM's vice president of U.S. sales operations, in a statement. "We engaged dealers to help us develop 'Shop-Click-Drive' to address this need."
Buyers can use the site to: get estimated pricing, choose specific vehicles, review available incentives, and choose financing and insurance products, according to GM. Users can also apply for financing and get information about trading-in a vehicle.
The Shop-Click-Drive tool is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
GM said the tool was created to improve the consumer and dealer relationship. Many people can feel intimidated when going to a dealership, this site will help make people have a less stressful car-buying experience.
