Four unusual concept cars from Suzuki will make an appearance at the upcoming 2013 Tokyo Auto Show.

While little more than objects of curiosity for U.S. buyers, the Suzuki Crosshiker, X-Lander, Hustler and Hustler Coupe concepts will be interesting additions to this year's show, Edmunds reports. (See photos here).

The Suzuki Crosshiker is a compact crossover derived from the Suzuki Regina concept shown at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show. Weighing in at just 1,786 pounds, this concept features a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine.

The car "strikes a good balance between power and environmental performance," said Suzuki.

X-Lander is based on the Jimny, Suzuki's Jeep-like SUV, according to Edmunds. The concept features a 1.3-liter engine and a hybrid system. Suzuki said it is designed to look "like a fusion of off-road power and mechanical precision."

The Hustler twins aim to blend the attributes of a minicar with a crossover, and the pair are said to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts.

Suzuki will bring back the iV-4 compact crossover, which debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, for a Tokyo appearance.

The 2013 Tokyo Show will also feature the Honda NSX, Mazda 3 Skyactiv-CNG and Subaru Levorg concepts.

Suzuki Motor Corp. pulled out of the U.S. market this past November after failing to make a profit, according to Bloomberg. After nearly three decades, Suzuki stopped the sale of new automobiles in the U.S. but continued to offer motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and boat motors.

The automaker had $346 million of debt and $233 million in assets as of Sept. 30, according to bankruptcy filings.

"Suzuki is no longer among the carmakers like Toyota or Honda to have an advantageous position in the U.S., so why not focus on what it is good at?" said Satoshi Yuzaki, Tokyo-based general manager at Takagi Securities Co. "It makes sense for Suzuki to focus on India and other Asian markets."
