Director Michael Bay was attacked and injured Thursday in Hong Kong on the set of "Transformers 4," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Two local men, reportedly brothers, approached the director while he was shooting a scene for the film in a busy downtown area of Hong Kong Island, the outlet reports.
The younger brother demanded HK$100,000 ($12,900) from Bay, according to a police statement given to Reuters.
After an argument arose, the older brother walked up to Bay and struck him in the face, according to the report. The man then tried to fight three police officers who intervened.
The three police officers were treated in the hospital for minor injuries, while the younger Mak asked to be taken for treatment, saying he did not feel well, according to Reuters.
The two brothers surnamed Mak, ages 27 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of blackmail and assault, according to Reuters. Also arrested at the scene was a third man surnamed Chan. All three remain in custody, and police are investigating.
Bay reportedly sustained injuries to his face, but nothing serious enough to warrant a hospital visit, and he resumed shooting after the incident. The director was not available for comment to Reuters, while the film crew and workers on the set declined to comment.
"Transformers 4," also called "Transformers: Age of Extinction," stars Mark Wahlberg and is slated for a summer 2014 release. The film crew recently wrapped up shooting in Chicago after a month-long stay and a massive controlled explosion for one of the scenes, according to The Huffington Post.
Scenes have also been shot in Washington State, Texas, Utah and Michigan.
The latest "Transformers" film will feature a mechanic and his daughter who make a discovery that brings Autobots and Decepticons as well as a paranoid government official upon them, according to IMDB.
