Sirius XM Radio announced this week that it will air Halloween-themed programming across a number of different channels for all ages and interests.
Broadcasting will include multiple broadcasts of the Halloween classic "The War of The Worlds" on the 75th anniversary of its original airing, "Art Bell's Spooky Matters," which features ghost stories and paranormal encounters from listeners and guests, and the return of Scream Radio, a channel that provides spooky sound effects for Halloween parties, according to a company press release.
Listeners will get the chance to hear "The War of the Worlds," the classic radio drama first performed by Hollywood legend Orson Welles that caused panic around the country. The broadcast convinced listeners 75 years ago that martians had landed in Grovers Mill, NJ, and the United States was under attack.
"The War of the Worlds" will air on Oct. 30, at 8:00 pm ET, on Radio Classics, channel 82. "The War of the Worlds" will be rebroadcast on Halloween at 10:00 pm ET and November 1, at 12:00 am ET.
Following the broadcast, listeners will be able to hear "War of the Welles," a brand new audio documentary that explores Orson Welles and the original 1938 "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast.
SiriusXM's exclusive limited-run Halloween channel Scream Radio provides "the ultimate scary sound-effect soundtrack for fun and fright" according to SiriusXM. The channel will provide traditional Halloween music, ghost stories, and interviews from "scare-masters" like Stephen King, R.L. Stine, Ann Rice, Roger Corman.
Scream Radio will air starting Oct. 25, at 12:00 pm ET, through Friday, November 1, at 3:00 am ET, on channel 142, and via the SiriusXM Internet Radio app for smartphones and other connected devices. Scream Radio can also be accessed online at siriusxm.com, on the Comedy Showcase channel.
