Samsung has introduced a new smartphone called the Galaxy Round which the Korean company has deemed the "world's first curved display smartphone."
Galaxy Round has a 5.7-inch HD AMOLED screen that will allow owners to use a "Roll Effect" to check the time, date, battery status and missed calls, even if the home screen is off, according to Samsung.
The company's "Gravity Effect" will let people interact with the smartphone device just by tilting it.
The Round sports the Note 3's internal hardware, which means a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 13MP camera.
The phone will run over LTE networks and supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, according to Samsung.
Samsung also said when its music player is activated, but the display is off, the user can press the left side of the Round to play the previous song, and the right side of the device to hear the next song.
The phone will just be sold in Korea for now, but the company hasn't ruled out the chance it will be sold in the U.S.
"There is a market for every device out there, some much smaller than others," said analyst Kevin Burden of Strategy Analytics. "Volume won't come until this technology is in devices at prices that users have come to expect to pay for a premium smartphone."
South Korea residents can purchase the phone now for 1 million won.
It took four years for Samsung to reach the point where they felt comfortable to release the Round device.
Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) screens emit their own light and don't need thick backlight like an LCD screen.
The Round weighs 5.4 ounces, and measures 5.95 x 3.1 x 0.3 inches.
