The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Volunteer Firefighter concept and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Black Ops concept will debut at the 2013 SEMA Show.
The Black Ops concept was "designed to turn a wasteland into an oasis," said General Motors.
The term "black ops" is a nod to military or political operations that may use measures not usually authorized. The Black Ops pickup is based on the Silverado Crew Cab 4x4.
The trucks were created to "explore the extreme of preparedness," according to GM.
"Whether it's a hurricane the likes of which only Hollywood special-effects artists could dream up or other unforeseen emergency, it's ready for anything," GM said.
Interested customers can expect custom-fabricated lower body armor and a lockable, bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit. Confirmed equipment provided with the truck include a solar power pack, gloves, rope, a pair of gas masks, military first-aid kit, and a folding shovel.
The Silverado Z71 Volunteer Firefighter concept truck, which gets a red-and-silver livery, honors the service of first responders, according to GM. The Firefighter concept comes with rescue gear like fire extinguishers and other equipment usually used by firefighters.
The Silverado is the second best-selling pickup and one of the best-selling vehicles in the country.
"We wanted to pay tribute to these important men and women in communities everywhere," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, in a press release. "They are the kind of hard-working Americans for whom we design and build the Silverado, making sure it delivers the capability and dependability they expect."
