Mercedes-Benz revealed its CLA 45 AMG Racing Series concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Specs and features for the race car "will vary" based on specific races, according to Mercedes-Benz.

"The near-series CLA 45 AMG Racing Series high-performance coupe is intended for the avidly followed race series with turbocharged 2.0-liter cars," said Mercedes-Benz, in a press statement. "The standard version of the CLA 45 AMG has the perfect genes for a competitive customer sports racing car."

Pricing and production plans have yet to be revealed.

The concept is equipped with a turbocharged 360-hp AMG 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed sports transmission, according to Mercedes-Benz.

"Given sufficient demand, the near-series CLA 45 AMG Racing Series could enter various international race series," Mercedes-Benz said, in a press statement. "The engine output and power transmission are variable, with permanent all-wheel drive or purely front-wheel drive possible as in the standard version."

Features outlined by the automaker include: side sill panels, a Recaro racing bucket seat, a new front and rear apron, and an integrated fire extinguisher.
