Microsoft Surface 2 Release Date: 10.6-Inch Device Set for Sept. 23 Debut

Microsoft has announced it will reveal the Surface 2 during a scheduled event in New York City on Sept. 23.

The Surface 2 runs on ARM, just like the Surface RT, according to report by The Verge.

Expect the 10.6-inch device to look almost identical to the current Surface. The device will work with the current Surface Touch and Type keyboard/covers, along with new ones set to be released before this upcoming holiday season.

Rumors indicate the Surface 2 won't work with Power Cover, however.

Current Surface devices are sold for approximately $349, and with a keyboard/cover bundle, customers usually spend $399 total. The Surface 2 will probably cost somewhere around that price as well.

Other rumored features include:

-USB 3.0 port

-802.11 Wi-Fi support

-Bluetooth

-8GB of RAM

-Two-stage kickstand

-1080p display

Battery life for the Surface 2 will last approximately eight hours, which is the same life span as the current Surface, according to The Verge.

The Surface Pro 2 and refurbished versions of the Surface RT and Surface Pro models are also expected at the NYC event.
