NFL Season Opener 2013: Hyundai Will Advertise During Super Bowl for 7th Straight Year

Sep 05, 2013 12:55 PM EDT | Matt Mercuro

The first kickoff of the 2013 NFL season is hours away, and Hyundai Motors revealed today that it will advertise during the Super Bowl for the seventh straight year.

"The Super Bowl is the ultimate stage for showcasing the Hyundai brand and our vehicles," said Steve Shannon, vice president, Marketing, Hyundai Motor America, in a press statement. "We look forward to being a part of advertising's biggest day again and we can't wait to show off our new ads and industry-leading products."

Super Bowl XLVII is set to take place on Feb. 2, 2014 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Hyundai will have two 30-second advertisements appear during the game, according to a company press release.

The company is still developing the ads but may offer a sneak peak in early 2014.

"We're not quite ready to discuss which vehicles we'll be featuring," said Shannon. "But as football fever begins again across the country, we couldn't wait any longer to let everyone know that we'll be back for Super Bowl XLVIII."

Hyundai's announcement comes just weeks after General Motors announced it would advertise during arguably the biggest game of the year after taking a year off.

Fox is charging approximately $4 million for a 30-second commercial.

"The timing of Super Bowl XLVIII lines up perfectly with our aggressive car and truck launch plans," said Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet's global chief marketing officer, in a press statement. "The Super Bowl is a great stage for showcasing the Chevrolet brand and our newest cars and trucks."
