A screen is being put outside the Walkie Talkie building in London to try preventing the sun's rays from causing damage to nearby buildings and parked cars.
"We are taking the issue of light reflecting from 20 Fenchurch Street seriously and are looking into the matter as a priority," Land Securities and Canary Wharf Group said in a press statement.
Fires have started because the reflections of the sunlight bounces off the building's windows.
The rays coming of the building have been so hot its melted parts of a Jaguar.
The building, nicknamed the Walkie Talkie building over its appearance, is currently under construction according to BBC News.
"This solution should minimize the impact on the local area over the next two to three weeks, after which time the phenomenon is expected to have disappeared," said Developers Land Securities and Canary Wharf in a press statement.
The light beam lasts around two hours every day this time a year, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. The building was designed by architect Rafael Vinoly, and is set to be completed by 2014.
The building's developers have to apply a finish to the outside of the glass that will diffuse light instead of reflecting it, according to Koen Steemers, head of Cambridge University's department of architecture.
"The developer has moved very quickly to meet and discuss with anyone affected," said the City of London Corporation in a press statement. "They have compensated a car owner, spoken to local businesses and explored temporary solutions, perhaps including partial screening."
