Ford has recalled approximately 370,000 vehicles over a steering shaft that is at risk of corroding.
The issue could affect steering wheels in Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles produced during the 2005 through 2011 model years.
Owners will be notified by October and then asked to take their vehicles to their local dealership to be inspected. If a repair is necessary, the lower intermediate steering shaft will be replaced free of charge.
Over 355,000 of the models in question were sold in the U.S. The other 15,000 were sold in Canada, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
States in the U.S. listed in the recall according to the NHTSA includes: Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The recall is expected to begin by Oct. 21.
No injuries or crashes have been reported as of press time.
