NASCAR veteran Kurt Busch was officially introduced as the fourth driver of Stewart-Hass Racing this week after declining an offer to stay with Furniture Row Racing.
Busch signed a multi-year contract with co-owner Tony Stewart, who announced he will miss the rest of the season due to a broken right leg earlier this month.
Along with Stewart, Busch will join Danica Patrick and Kevin Harvick.
"The excitement is just at an all-time high," Busch said during a news conference held by Stewart-Haas Racing. "To be in this position, it's amazing to have Gene Haas call you up and say 'Let's do this.'
The signing marks a major expansion for team owners Gene Haas and Stewart, who first launched their company in 2009.
Busch has raced for single-car teams since leaving Penske Racing back in 2011 according to Reuters.
"The opportunity is about people and that's what makes this so important that I've neglected in the past, is it's the people that make the difference in going to Victory Lane or not," said Busch.
Busch has won 24 Cup races and won the Nextel Cup Series back in 2004. He has had his fair share of problems not only with fellow drivers but officials over the years as well.
The NASCAR driver was released Roush Fenway Racing back in 2005 after sheriffs in Arizona said Busch was "verbally abusive" after being arrested during a traffic stop.
Busch won 10 races for team Penske between 2006 and 2011, but they parted ways after a video of Busch abusing a television reporter went viral.
