GM has announced its OnStar RemoteLink app is now available for all four primary smartphone formats: iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Microsoft Windows.
Originally RemoteLink wasn't available for Microsoft Windows devices, but OnStar has extended its availability of RemoteLink so GM drivers with Microsoft Windows devices can start "experiencing remote vehicle connectivity."
The app is now available for both Windows Phone 7 and 8 operating systems, and can be downloaded through the Windows Phone Store as well according to GM in a company press release.
"RemoteLink remains one of our subscribers' most desired OnStar services, so to be able to offer it across all of the major smartphone platforms is a great step for us," said Steve Schwinke, GM director, Application Development, Global Connected Consumer, in a press statement.
Customers can use RemoteLink in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and will support four languages: U.S. English, French Canadian, Canadian English, and Spanish.
The app is available for almost all new GM vehicles, and has been downloaded over 1.7 million times.
RemoteLink can be used to check vehicle data like tire pressure, fuel level, and oil life. The app requires a username and password to login and a four digit PIN to make a command.
"RemoteLink is one of the most-used automotive manufacturer apps in the marketplace and is a great example of what you can do with built-in vehicle connectivity," said Schwinke.
