Ford is recalling 6,308 Focus BEV and Focus ST vehicles with High Intensity Discharge headlights over a malfunction issue.
The Focus BEV vehicles were manufactured September 15, 2011 through May 6, 2013, and the Focus ST were manufactured February 16, 2012 through May 7, 2013 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The NHTSA is claiming a wiring incompatibility could cause side marker lamps to not function.
"Without the proper illumination of the side maker lamps, the vehicle may be less visible in night time conditions, increasing the risk of a crash," the NHTSA said about the issue.
The recall will begin later on this month, and the automaker will fix the issue free of charge.
No accidents or injuries have been reported as of press time.
Dealerships are already being notified and owners will receive letters in the mail within the next couple of weeks.
The recall number is 13C04 according to the NHTSA.
Owners with more questions can call Ford's customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
