iOS 6.1.4 Untethered Jailbreak Update: New Download Exists for iOS 7, But Not From Evad3rs

iOS 7 hasn't been officially released to the world yet, as it's still in beta testing, but that hasn't stopped a hacker from supposedly creating a successful jailbreak.

Respected hacker Ryan Petrich has developed a successful jailbreak for the next Apple operating system, iOS 7, but don't expect it to be released before this fall.

It is commonly believed that Apple will pair its next new device with iOS 7, but they have still yet to reveal if they'll be releasing the iPhone 5S or jump straight to the iPhone 6.

The jailbreak team known as the evad3rs were the last group of hackers to create a safe and successful iOS jailbreak this past winter when they released their evasiOn download.

The website for the evasiOn download was one of the most popular websites after the jailbreak was released, and approximately 20 million users downloaded the app according to Forbes.

The team's reign at the top didn't last long however, as Apple countered with iOS 6.1.3. The new operating system blocked anyone from bypassing an iPhone lockscreen using its emergency call function, allowing the user to make a call or gaining partial access to the phone's private data.

One of the team's members, known as Pod2g on Twitter, recently said he's so disappointed with iOS 7 that he may switch to an android device instead.

"I must admit that I am about to switch to an Android device. IMHO, this version of iOS is the worst move Apple did in a long time," said Pod2g this week on Twitter. "iOS 7 design is awful, it's slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it's full of UI bugs and crashes. OK it's beta 1, but still."

Petrich, who is best known for the popular Activator jailbreak app, shared a photo of his progress so far and the image appears to be a jailbroken Apple device running iOS 7.
