A leaked walkaround video of the alleged prototype of the Tesla Cybertruck has gone viral after it was posted on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum. The Tesla Cybertruck leak shows the alpha prototype having no door handles and the vehicle featuring removable wheel covers.
Drone videographer Joe Tegtmeyer sent Tesla fans into a frenzy when he released video footage of the Tesla Cybertruck arriving at Giga Austin on Sunday, January 23. Tegtmeyer theorized that this is part of Tesla's presentation for its financial results on January 26. With Texas now home to Tesla's new headquarters, it would make perfect sense to unveil the Cybertruck at Giga Austin during the Full Year Earnings Report and Conference Call.
More images and videos of the Cybertruck emerged following Tegtmeyer's post, heightening speculation that Tesla's next big thing may be set for a grand reveal. The public had its closest look yet at the Tesla Cybertruck after a person captured a walkaround video of the vehicle on Monday, January 24.
No door handles found on Cybertruck
The Cybertruck remained a sight to behold with its trapezoidal shape and stainless steel finish. What captured the attention of viewers and the person taking the video was the non-existence of door handles on the Cybertruck. There was no audio included in the leaked video but based on its subtitles, opening the doors of the Tesla Cybertruck was a hot topic of discussion.
When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck during an announcement event in 2019, the said vehicle still had door handles. The company's first electric pickup truck grabbed the headlines back then when Elon Musk claimed that the vehicle's armored glass was shatterproof. That claim was immediately proven wrong when Tesla's chief of design, Franz von Holzhausen, shattered both the Cybertruck's windows with a metal ball.
Musk promised to fix that problem in a post. Plenty of tweaks and updates have been made to the Cybertruck since then. Among the notable changes are the Cybertruck's giant windshield and wiper. Musk himself commented on the wiper during the Cybertruck's testing at the company track in Fremont, California, saying that stowing it away in the front trunk would be "ideal, but complex."

Delays hit production of Tesla Cybertruck
Tesla promised during its 2019 unveiling of the Cybertruck that the company would start producing the vehicle in late 2021. Tesla failed to meet that deadline, announcing in August that full production of the Cybertruck would be pushed to 2022. That deadline was then waived again, with Reuters reporting earlier this year that Tesla will now start producing the Cybertruck in the first quarter of 2023.
We will get more information regarding the Cybertruck when Musk shares a product roadmap update during the earnings call on Wednesday. Will the Cybertruck make an appearance in that conference call? We shall find out soon.
