Nissan to Recall 841,000 Vehicles to Fix Steering Wheel Glitch, Micra, Cube Models Involved

Nissan Motor Co. announced it will recall approximately 841,000 vehicles worldwide as a result of a steering wheel glitch.

Vehicle models, produced in 2002 through 2006, involved in the recall include the Micra compact car, also known as the March, and the Cube according to Reuters.

The Mirca vehicles were produced in Japan and Britain, while the Cube models were produced in Japan.

The bolt used in the steering wheel of these cars may not have been properly tightened and at worst the steering wheel may not function, Nissan said in a press statement filed to the Japanese transport ministry this week.

"Over time, the nut that holds on the steering wheel can become loose," said a Nissan Motor spokesperson. "Drivers could start notice some wobbling of the wheel and if this is ignored there is the possibility that it could come completely off."

"There have been a few incidents of steering wheels becoming loose, but there have been no accidents," the spokesperson added.

Vehicles will be recalled from all-over the world including locations like Europe, Japan, Africa, Latin American and the Middle East according to Reuters.

No accidents, injuries, or deaths have been reported as of press time according to Nissan spokeswoman Noriko Yoneyama.

Nissan will fix the issue by either replacing the steering wheel with a new one or by tightening the bolts.

The repair will only take a total of 40 minutes, and will be done free of charge at local Nissan dealerships.
