The new Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus has just been unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It boasts of its powerful 601 bhp and top speed of 203 mph.
Audi is now offering the upgraded R8 Spyder V10 Plus model. It comes with the same powerful specs of the current R8 model plus a host of impressive upgrades.
The obvious revision on design is marked by the generous usage of carbonfiber on the new R8 Spyder Plus. Compared to the current R8, the Plus variant now sports carbonfiber on the rear diffuser, front splitter and intake cover.
Furthermore, the new Plus comes with a gentle carbonfiber lip. Buyers have the option to specify this to match the preferred body paint color.
The new Spyder still runs with a 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine. However, the brand has tweaked its performance to deliver a powerful 601 bhp output. This new model is the only naturally aspirated engine in its class. It is also mated with the brand's supreme 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox and rear-biased Quattro all-wheel drive system.
The new supercar can produce 560 Nm of torque. This is a 20 Nm improvement on the original R8. It also claims a 8,700rpm redline.
In terms of the all-wheel drive system, a pair of electro-hydraulic clutches control the system. Whereas, the selected driving mode and conditions will determine the varying torque between the axles. This explains that the car is able to deliver full power to either axle. In addition, a limited slip differential on the rear is also provided to improve traction under load.
With regard to speed, the new R8 Plus can speed up from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. It can also deliver a top speed of 203 mph.
Moreover, the new supercar has retained the same folding soft-top of the original R8. The automaker prefers to retain the design for passenger's improved access to the car.
The new Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus weighs 1.695 kg, where 140 kg amounts to the convertible roof mechanism and improved chassis. The new Plus is actually 25 kg lighter than the current R8.
Meanwhile, the automaker has also unveiled the Micrommatic Green colorway of the new Plus. This variant integrates the violent green paintwork and the black trim package, where the leather interior was trimmed in black and complemented with a green stitching.
Audi claims this is the fastest convertible model so far. What do you think of the upgraded Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus?
